When the grow season is over, is it preferred or preferrable to leave the rootball in-ground or pull the entire plant? Is one way better than the other? Thanks in advance..

The real question is, “in terms of what?”
In the context of building a soil or no till?
Sure, leave them.
In terms of providing a substrate that new plant roots can shoot through quickly?
Best to pull.
Best of both worlds?
Pull, shred, incorporate back into substrate or top mulch.
