I've grown basic peppers with the most exotic probably being a gochuchang for the last couple years but this is the first year I've tried starting seeds. Learning a lot, got things I'll do next year and things I won't
My big excitement today is I finally got one of the c eshbaughii to germinate! Rich tossed two dried peppers in a seed order and I only opened one of them because I just wasn't sure of my experience. Unfortunately I've been sick for the last couple days so didn't check and then today... bingo. Looks a touch stemmy (don't judge me too much I actually was really sick 🙏) but I have life! Immediately planted into soil and is now sitting in the shade outside. Did an extremely weak fertilizer solution; fish n kelp.
I feel it's a little late this year but I'm hoping to at least get something out of it by the end of the year. It earned the name booger because I was telling my son as he was grabbing some soil for me that 'the little booger made it' and I realized that was now its name 🤣🤣
I still do have another dried pepper
for next year just in case something happens here ☺️
Thanks Rich!!
Welcome! There it is! Well done! This species likes a little shade and a little sun, doesn't love being fully exposed and loves to climb and grow up surrounding structures. Enjoy it! Make some Llajua with them, some tomato, onion and spices, just like they do in Samaipata.
Way to go Selena! Keep us updated, I’d love to see more as it grows.
